New Care Home For Newbury Announces Consultation Clinics
Priory Healthcare is holding a consultation clinic for local residents of Wash Common to view plans for a proposed new care home to be built in Monks Lane, Newbury and to meet company representatives and developers.
The company, a leading independent provider of mental health services across the UK, is working in partnership with West Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust to provide the new 24-bedded care facility. It will result in a £3.5 million investment into the local area with up to 40 new jobs created in roles including care staff, catering, housekeeping, estates and gardening as well as specialist clinical roles.
The new service will meet the needs of patients who have, for a long period of time, been in care, but whose existing facilities are now outdated and for whom a new purpose built long term home would be greatly beneficial.. It will provide rehabilitation and care in a community setting where a core objective is to help patients make important steps into community life.
The care home will have a highly experienced management and staff team and Priory Healthcare will provide additional clinical expertise and support to the staff and patients from its own nearby facilities in Thatcham.
Priory Healthcare is keen to hear feedback from local people on its designs for the new home. It has submitted plans for the building to the local authority but is consulting widely and may make design changes based on positive and useful engagement with the community.
As part of the consultation exercise anyone interested in learning more about the development, or making a comment, can log on to the dedicated website www.washcommoncaredevelopment.co.uk.
A consultation clinic is being held on 14th April at the Hilton Newbury Centre hotel, Pinchington Lane Newbury RG14 7HL between 3pm and 8pm. Anyone wishing to make an appointment should phone Michelle Bond on 01325 363436 or email michelle.bond@recognitionpr.co.uk. Each clinic will be 10 to 15minutes long and is to be booked in advance over the telephone or by email.
Trevor Torrington, managing director of Priory Healthcare said: “We are working in partnership with the West Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust to provide this much needed care facility for local people.
“This site has excellent local transport links and community facilities to support each patient’s active rehabilitation. Families and friends will be able to maintain contact and play an active role in the care and treatment.
“We hope to become part of a supportive local community and will welcome any feedback or address any questions either through the website or at the consultation clinic.”
