Fun For All At Bolton Hall

Residents, family and staff at the Bolton Hall Care Home in Bolton on Dearne near Rotherham joined together for a day of fun, games and pampering.

The ‘fun day’, which was a huge success, saw staff wearing alternative uniforms including kitchen staff who paid homage to Norah Batty in their choice of dress.

Guests enjoyed morning coffee and cupcakes before a beautician treated visitors and residents to manicures, nail painting and head massages.

The highlight of the day was the home’s own X-Factor competition. Volunteers posed as judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and special guest judge Katie Price. The adult competition was won by Amanda Green, who has a relative living at Bolton Hall and the junior competition by 8-year-old Lorie Grainger, the granddaughter of a staff member who wowed the audience with her rendition of Miley Cyrus’ song ‘Climb’.

The judges unanimously voted head chef and chief organiser Di Linford and her kitchen team as ‘best entertainers’ for their Spice Girls ‘Wannabe’ tribute song and dance act, dressed as charladies complete with rubber gloves and feather boas!

Home manager Diane McKenna said: “All the staff worked extremely hard and it was a fantastic day and fun was had by all. Some of the residents’ relatives gave the home wonderful compliments which is a lovely reward for the hard work of the staff.

“At Bolton Hall, we like to create and help maintain residents’ lifestyles so that they are as similar as possible to those they enjoyed at home. We like to keep our residents active so we are always thinking of ideas for trips out and events we can host here at the home.

“We encourage participation from families and friends through involvement in our special days and events and they are always welcome here to visit.”
