Rossendale School is a specialist residential school for boys and girls aged 8 to 16 with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties. The school provides a setting in which pupils can understand their problems and come to terms with them. We work together to develop behavioural strategies to minimise difficulties and help overcome problems.
The school offers a warm and welcoming environment where a positive education allows all pupils to experience success. Our ethos was created in the belief that a positive, supportive and achieving culture is essential in creating a good school. Pupils who come from a negative, destructive and anti-achievement background need a completely different environment in which to rediscover success and self-belief.
We provide:
- 38 week provision
- A positive environment to bring about positive change
- A wide range of educational opportunities including GCSE and other external examinations
- Clinical and psychological support
- Day provision
- High staff to pupil ratio
- Support strategies to develop self-awareness, self-discipline and self-worth
- The National Curriculum
- Weekly boarding and weekend 'on-call'
Placements can either be on a residential or day basis and for up to 38 weeks of the year depending on individual need. All of the young people referred to the school will have a Statement of Special Educational Need. Rossendale School can provide places for up to 56 pupils.
